Painting - Water Colours

Happy to be gifted with a new set of water colours, a surprise it was supposed to be !
The first thing that came to my mind were landscapes cause you can make utmost use of these water colours with different levels of shading. Initially tried it on sketching paper I came up with this scenic mountains and river ! But really had a tough time to bring out the natural look cause paper became so soggy. Personally feel so elated to bring out different shades of blue - since m no expert in this.

My work area :) did maximum I could with available resources . Brushes and palettes are about 7years old. Its so much fun to relive some of the forgotten hobbies :)

This painting I did it on good quality paper especially designed for water colours and acrylics ! I wanted to picturise the early morning sight in a thick forest . The paper(acquarello sheets) gave me full freedom to use water liberally and scrape it out using cloth and tissues for some light effect!Had to browse and learn some painting techniques like the dry brush technique , lifting wet colour and the wet in wet technique. Hope it was a good try after a long break :)

Sola Wood Work

Beautiful flowers made with sola wood :) . The base of the basket is made of thermocol upon which I just weaved the wood available in the form of straps.Initially its very dry but then once dipped into water it becomes flexible and comfortable to work with. The flowers really took a long time to make. For additional decorations you need some pebs for buds then green tape for branches and some beads to stick on the basket.

For making the flowers nylon thread is spun around taking each and every petal at a time. It needs to be done patiently tightening it every time so that it stays intact for a very long time !

Finally with your own ideas yo can decorate by even painting the flowers and sticking some ready made leaves to make it look natural. After so much of work and time it would be really cool to frame it and find a perfect location in your place to hang it :) thats wat I do everytime !

Internet Addicts

They are also called geeks spend lot of time indoors and are proud of enjoying everything under the sky VIRTUALLY !

An indoor sunrise--- :)

Here is a sleep mask that helps you wake up on time with a gentle simulated sunrise lighting effect embedded in the mask. You just simply set the mask to the time you want to wake up, and the mask will gradually brighten as time approaches(light unit inside the mask simulates a sunrise 30 minutes before you wake). "If your alarm is at 7 am, the light will gradually brighten beginning at 6:30. An audible alarm sounds at the end of the sunrise sequence, letting you know it's time to start the day. "

One fine day they step out of the house after so much of environmental verification I mean wi-fi zones not the green zones ….be it holiday spots or just hang out places like coffee shops “Does it have a wi-fi ?” is what bothers them!

Their playground measures about 15 “ and they can not play with out electricity even during the day  … such a pity!

They boast of having thousands of friends most of whose identity is itself a “ ? “ They know them better than their actual friends…having fun according to them is to have extended tweet sessions late in the night during weekends ! Some of them fascinated by the celebrity tweets as though they have a received a personal message from them.. Crazy!

LOL is  the first thing that comes to their mind when they hear a joke ….and unfortunately without noise !

Top notch addicts feel that a google search would be helpful to search misplaced things in their own place !

Hopefully they don’t draw stick figures sideways : ) < - <- !

They all are a part of this big company called facebook – they own so many farms , houses , cafes ,zoos and many such things …. Hours and concentration and hard work put into creating them which they  eventually hate … and delete !

Finally they land up in squatting sites giving a good income to the typosquatters …those of you who often misspell save your frequently visited sites in favourites !

Internet has become their universe…it has a  towering influence on their personality making them its slaves .

Before it starts harassing you .. explore the numerous alternatives where you and only you can be the master ! J

Madhubani Painting

Literally it means 'forests of honey' ...basically named after the Mithila region from where it originated.

It was during the wedding ceremony of the holy deities Rama and Sita , King Janaka ordered his people to decorate the walls with paintings . They came up with paintings of deities and holy beings such as the cow and thulsi plant etc. Originally painted on the walls and houses of the village , at present has undergone many transformations ! Its now done on cloth used as bed spreads , towels etc.

This is one art which requires patience ...the space is usually not left blank but filled with some geometric patterns and other small animals amidst the deities ! Painting the intricate designs is time consuming and of course perfection to fill in the small gaps ...

My first attempt being this black and white design !

Decided to leave it without adding colour ...I just couldnt fill colour without disturbing the outline!
Trying this one on a really big paper and simple design which is colourful would be right for a beginner! :)

A perfect idea for a traditional interior look would a beautiful madhubani painting on any one of the walls of your living room such as this... !

This was one house that was featured in DESIGN TODAY in 2004 - a perfect blend of traditional painting with a contemporary style...!

Terracotta Souvenirs

Myself was surprised that  I actually had the ability to turn earthy brown articles to such colourful souvenirs :) ...I had a very keen interest in painting pots from a very young age but then it was like I didnt have a clear idea about what materials I got to use nor I had the proper skill to apply !

It all happened recently when I was with a friend of mine who got me a set of acrylic colours, even then I had absolutely no idea of what I would be doing with them...When I came home I found some old objects made of terracotta ! Just dusted them and washed thoroughly ...I spontaneously transformed a red brown elephant into a royal one !

Then I was inspired by the aquarium wall paper in my mobile and I came up with an another one !

By this time I was completely bored of drawing something based on a particular theme so I came up with really abstract stuff where there is absolutely no reason behing choosing a particular colour and I used outliners which were actually meant to be used on cloth and ironed later to give an embossed effect ! Here goes my chain of works :) I actually planned to keep myself occupied for a week but couldnt resist myself from completing them in just three hours ... was not even patient to allow the paints to dry :) so that I could design using the outliner ...

Looks amazing when stacked one above the other and kept in the corner of a living room !

All that was needed to make such colourful souvenirs were outliners, metallic acrylic colours and last but not the least an urge to be creatively original :) !

Pleasure with patience...

Iron work....it involves a long and tiresome process. Many thousand of people behind the creation!

I wonder whether we can go anywhere near by imitating many such other masterpieces ..?!!
Wont you be surprised if I say ya it can be , with just a single person and a couple of hours and...of course a pinch of patience...!

The technique is not new. It was during the rennaissance that the French and Italian monks used long strips of paper to decorate things. They didnt even invest in the materials but just used paper trimmed from edges of thick books.

The art of paper filigree popularly known as QUILLING has undergone transformations and here is what cropped into my mind :)

A perfect gift it would be for one's soul mate this season ! So many quilling techniques are uniquely presented ... initially it would be like following instructions but  once you gain confidence .. Then your own ideas creep in and you finally become the creator of miniature ironworks more colourful than ever , captivating transformations and lovely gifts to give away..!

Lovely and cute roses can be made using these strips of paper but with a different technique and   its upto ones creativity to make use of them to combine with other forms of art and craft..One other for which I proudly own the copyrights is here...

And Finally have one last thing to say --- A Very Happy Quilling Time Ahead !! cheers...!

Origami Obsession ?!!?

I just came up with the idea of using very simple things around me ... just reachable without even having to get up from my desk. Unfortunately it was an ieee transaction paper that I could reach lol.
I was lazy to even pick up a pen,glue,colours...Never mind...just googled...can anything complex be done with just bits of paper....yes of course ...ORIGAMI thanks to the japanese for introducing this beautiful art . You really made my day which would have otherwise been spent sleeping till
m tired of it.

Now here goes my 3 hours of hard work but each folding which I thoroughly enjoyed doing ...truly!

ppl dont think it's an easy job the folds were confusing and I messed up a little , but dont ever give up the second one I did it with ease ...

This is a triangular box -- looks very geometric right? yeah i actually assembled it , three pieces are into the making...didnt have the patience to make the lid :P

Then I realised I couldnt actually stop trying and I went ahead doing more tough tasks...it was amazing the paper which I kept folding was actually 2-D then I followed the instructions like a little kid :) . I finally ended up with this!

Looks incomplete right ?? hmmm ok fine lets make a flower . Came across some really simple ones but considered it prestigious -- when I almost have mastered the art why not a daisy flower which is  also a 3-D....

And finally for all this I wanted to treat myself ! A photo frame . Got to find a photo as well as a place to fix it...

Hold on ...! Arent they dull and boring not a bit of colour except black and white ...Let me do it better not lazy as I was today . Will be back with loads of colours , cheers , surprises by putting them in use!! :)...
